i. Increasing and enjoying warm, cooked, vegetarian and easy to digest foods. The traditional diet for an Ayurvedic cleanse includes plain basmati rice and yellow mung dal (lentils) or kitchari, steamed vegetables and rice, vegetable soup and oatmeal. Eat a healthy amount of sunflower oil or glee (clarified butter) to balance vata and pitta. How does Yoga work in the program? 

The practices of yoga include asanas (postures), gentle stretching, together with practices in breath work and relaxation. Yoga stimulates specific points in the body which release endorphins, natural hormones which have a calming effect on the centres of the brain that relate to eating and send you messages that you have been elegantly satisfied. This decreases cravings and makes it easier to deal with and manage the stresses that cause overeating. Endorphins also affect the digestive and endocrine glands to help rebalance the organ systems. The calming benefits of Yoga decrease the irritability associated with weight loss. Yoga is an effective adjunct therapy for the treatment of weight control.
 

The role of Ayurveda in the program

Ayurveda, the science of life and health and the sister discipline of yoga, is more than a Vedic science that heals. It is a 5000 year old philosophy and way of life that was developed to perfection when human beings existed in harmony with the natural world. The role of Ayurvedic Weight Loss Massage

Ayurvedic massage is used in effective ways to help you lose weight. There are two vital sensory systems in the brain that control our eating habits. The feeding center is responsible for the feeling of hunger. The satiety center is responsible for the feeling of fullness. If the feeding center is overactive, you may always feel hungry; and if the satiety center is under active, you may not feel full so easily. Massage can help by increasing blood circulation and metabolic rate, thereby enabling your system to work more efficiently in digesting your food and eliminating its wastes.
 
Weight loss massage is a program of visceral (abdominal) massage and marma (energy points) pressure which is used to help clear the system of metabolic waste and encourage circulation. This improves digestion which can help you be successful in your weight loss program. Stimulation is not applied directly into the brain's areas but into corresponding meridian points on the arms, legs and abdomen which then affect the feeding centre in the brain. Stimulation at these points over a period of about 3 weeks can significantly reduce body weight. The effects are enhanced by combining it with weight loss herbal therapy and yoga.
 
Ayurvedic relaxation massage is a valuable adjunct therapy used in conjunction with yoga and herbs to maximise weight loss effects.
